Madre Medicinas firmly believes that every mother deserves access to the essential knowledge that enables them to make informed decisions for themselves and their families.
Our goal is to empower families by providing them with tools to make these independent choices.
We specialize in nutritive herbal products, ceremonial pelvic therapy, birth rights consulting, bereavement packages and birth pool rentals [ including birth reclamation ceremony ] so that mothers feel seen, heard and respected throughout their journey.
FOUNDER STORY
My name’s Vanessa and I’m the face behind Madre Medicinas. My journey in allopathic medicine began in the operating room of the Alberta Children’s Hospital here in Calgary AB, which eventually led to my graduation from nursing. One of my favorite units to work on was Burns & Plastics. I loved anything surgical and seemed to thrive in high stress areas.
After multiple traumatic birthing experiences, my entire life slow downed upon the arrival of my rainbow baby, my son Renzo. I decided to leave the system to pursue herbalism, traditional Chinese medicine and pelvic therapy studies. Next my business was manifested. My goal is to help empower women with tools to reclaim sovereignty over their bodies and health choices.
From making garden potions as a little girl, to now owning my own herbal apothecary // ceremonial pelvic therapy business, is a dream come true.
